Emergency Numbers

In case of a fire or medical emergency, call 911.

Proper contacts to call in the event of a potential emergency are outlined in the Reporting a Potential Emergency PDF, compiled by the Office of Safety, Health, Environment, and Risk Management (SHERM).

All other emergencies:

UT Police at Houston can be reached at 713-792-2890.
Provide the department with the following information:

  1. Your name
  2. Your location
  3. Phone number
  4. Type of emergency
  5. Details of the emergency or special directions (if any)

All building facility issues or maintenance needs can be reported through the FixIt team at 713-500-FIXT (713-500-3498), or FIXIT@uth.tmc.edu

Issues at the Auxiliary Enterprises Recreation Center should also be referred to the FixIt team.

For cardiac events, an automated external defibrillator (AED) may be used. Look for an AED cabinet near elevator lobbies in buildings on campus. Bleeding control kits can also be found inside the AED cabinets to stop severe bleeding.

To report an AED maintenance issue, call Environmental Health and Safety at 713-500-8100 or email osfp.safety@uth.tmc.edu.

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call 911. You can also call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.

For UTHealth Houston faculty and staff, Employee Assistance and Well-being Programs offers free and confidential counseling and consultation services with a licensed mental health professional. Call 713-500-3327 or 800-346-3549. Faculty may also call 713-500-3880.

UTHealth Houston Student Health and Counseling Service offers free, round-the-clock access to professionals to help students with crisis management, intervention, assessment, and referrals. For information or to make an appointment, call 713-500-5171. Additionally, the Emergency Crisis Hotline, 713-500-4688, is available 24 hours a day.
